The cost of an employee continues to rise. New state and federal regulations including the ones related to The Affordable Care Act have raised the amount an employer must pay to have employees. When this cost is added to the increased rates of health insurance premiums, workers compensation insurance, and other expenses the employee costs continue to rocket out of control. The employees in our district a drastically underpaid when compared to other local transporting agencies. This has created some difficulty attracting new highly qualified Paramedics. This problem is only forecasted to become worse as more and more industries see the value in paramedics the available pool of providers decline. Without proper incentivisation we may begin to fail attracting the best and brightest of our industry.
